So many countries in the world now have aging populations that we can expect to see more and more products aimed at the elderly market. Back in February, Marcus wrote an insightful article about Japan's surge in adult diaper sales; they are already outstripping those of the baby kind because of the country's aging population and low birth rate. Much of the West is heading in the same direction.
Now Gillette has released a razor designed especially for assisted shaving to address the expected increased demand for grooming help. Apparently Gillette's new TREO is the first razor engineered for caregivers to shave men who can't shave themselves.
While adult diapers are a little depressing, assisted shaving hopefully reflects something more positive – the sacrificial love we can show by assisting others even in mundane, repetitive and unglorious tasks.
This excellent Gillette ad challenges us all to love others a little more despite what it costs us, whatever 'caring' role you might find yourself in. It also pays tribute to the many, many people who 'care' for others on a daily basis. Do watch:
