Malālah Yūsafzai (born 1997) is a Pakistani school girl and education activist from northwest Pakistan. In 2012 she became world famous after she was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman. After recovering from serious injuries she continued to campaign for education for children, especially girls. In 2013 she addressed a youth assembly at the United Nations.
