Dr Milad Milani is is Senior Lecturer in Religious Studies at Western Sydney University, specialising in Sufism and Islamic history. Dr Milani received his PhD from the University of Sydney. Dr Milani’s research broadly seeks to define, compare, and interpret religion, utilising a systematic, historically based, and cross-cultural perspectives method. Dr Milani is an internationally published academic and has published two books: Sufism in the Secret History of Persia (Abingdon: Routledge 2013, Gnostica Series) and Sufi Political Thought (Abingdon: Routledge 2018, Religion in Asia Series), and has a third book forthcoming, entitled The Nature of Sufism. He has also co-edited a book entitled: Islam, Civility and Political Culture (Cham: Palgrave Macmillan 2020). In addition, Dr Milani has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in his field of study as well as a number opinion pieces on platforms such as The Conversation.
