I’ll admit, this is one of my biggest pet peeves…
I was sitting in the back of a room the other day and looking at all the people coming in and out, sitting down, talking and was disappointed to see how many of the people looked good from the front and horrible from the back. There were tags hanging out, shirts partially tucked in, underwear lines showing, slips hanging down, noticeable stains on the material… it was an all out-disaster.
When dressing, it’s crucial to make sure the whole picture is complete and well put together. This includes even those hard to view spots like the back. Our appearance makes a statement about who we are and what we value. By taking the time to make sure the front is attractive without bothering with the backside, we are sending the message that half-done is ok.
A full-length mirror is one of those essential investments. A quick glance to check that everything is in place both in the front and in the back will help immensely.
Also, help another person out. Tuck in the tag that’s slipping out. Kindly mention the fact that the material is too sheer and her underwear can be seen through the back. You wouldn’t let someone walk out of the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to her shoe, why let them go out with some more obvious problems?
Not to say we need to become obsessed with always checking the back and front every time we are in front of a mirror. But a look at the back in the morning can help alleviate so many fashion problems. Take the time. Check behind you.
