General Manager

The General Manager will develop a new strategy for the websites managed by New Media Foundation, MercatorNet and BioEdge, to increase readership and adapt to new consumption habits and formats. He or she will prepare a business plan with annual objectives, establish new long-term operational goals, and seek out new partnerships and areas of opportunity. He/she will manage a team of staff and volunteers and work closely with the editors to assure the delivery of the best possible content through the most appropriate channels.

Marketing Director

The Marketing Director for New Media Foundation will lead a revision of our mission statement and develop a digital and social media strategy. At the same time, he or she will have to be able to explain and sell our uniqueness, the fundamental needs our website address, and how people benefit from the content we offer.

The MD will establish strategies to grow our social media and e-mail subscriber base; develop and manage SEO, helping writers to use it in their articles; design digital marketing campaigns; and assist our Director of Fundraising to effectively run our fundraising campaigns

Candidate requirements:

  • Minimum of two years marketing experience on email marketing and social media, especially Facebook and Twitter, with a track record of achieving excellent fan engagement levels and a growing follower base
  • Experience working with online advertising platforms
  • Familiarity with using Google Analytics to identify actionable insights
  • Highly analytical and committed to measuring success through data analysis from various channels: Google Analytics, Facebook page analytics, Mailchimp email reports, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, and creative, with a passion for trying new things, rigorously testing new initiatives, and adapting based upon the results
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly to new challenges
  • Understanding of new media formats
