Republishing

Creative commons

To ensure that our writers and our message supporting human dignity reach as many people as possible around the world, Mercator has adopted a Creative Commons, attribution, non-commercial, no-derivative-works licence for its content. All MercatorNet articles are published under this default licence unless previously agreed with the individual author. To view the licence click here. Learn more about Creative Commons here.

Authors’ copyright

Copyright remains with the author of all material published on Mercator. However, absent other arrangements, we presume the right to permit other publications to republish your articles under a Creative Commons licence.

Republishing by commercial organisations

There is no standard syndication rate: fees are arranged on a case by case basis. In some cases the fee may be waived by Mercator should the interested publication be run on a not-for-profit basis, have a small-scale distribution or distribution into geographical or societal areas that do not already have a large Mercator readership.

Republishing by non-commercial organisations

You have permission to republish any Mercator article which has been tagged as Creative Commons. We ask you to adhere to some guidelines, especially crediting Mercator and including a link to the original article. Some of our authors may prefer not to share their work, so check the license arrangement carefully.

Otherwise feel free to reproduce Mercator articles anywhere you think the ideas can make a difference. We want to promote human dignity by making our content reach as many people as possible.

Please note that when you republish an article, it must be an exact copy of the original with clear attribution to the author and a link back to Mercator. You may accurately translate the entire article into another language, but you must acknowledge that it is a translation.

Articles which are not available for republication

Some articles on Mercator are published under different terms, so please check beneath the article first.
